Since semiotic analysis is the study of cultural signs and symbols, subjective interpretations are part of the analysis. Thus, trustworthiness need to be enhanced to maintain objectivity. Will inter-coder reliability do the job for semiotic analysis?

If semiotic analysis works in the same way as other kinds of qualitative analyses, presumably (deductive/inductive) categories for the analysis - with anchor examples for each category - could be used. Intercoder reliability would then reflect the reliability of assigning the semiotic data to these categories.

Semiotic analysis brings more fruitful results if it combines with semantic analyses of various types studying the correlations of senses and meaning both within a word or rather lexeme and its distribution in a phrase or sentence.

I believe that the "veridictory square" , originally conceived by @Greimas and @Courtés, can help modalising different categories related to the opposition being-seeming, though, and as you say, the issue will always remain cultural in the end. See:
