I am looking for a way to promote the reaction between the carboxyl group in one of my chemicals and amino group in the other one. What are the appropriate pH, temp. and... for this reaction? Do I need an initiator?
This is a very general question, which needs to be specified. The very general answer would be that you have to remove water, because this is a condensation reaction.
Thank you your answers. I try to explain the situation more clearly:
I have two chemicals: one is collagen which contains amino groups and the other one is a type of silane containing a carboxyl group. They are in an aqueous solution with a high pH (~12). Is there a way to encourage the amide linkage between the silane and collagen to occur under such conditions before the collagen fibrilizes? Do I need to use a specific initiator? Or I have to play with some parameters? Thank you for your help.
