In the given starting material, there may be an alternative way of generating double bond or furnishing a oxidative dehydrogenation on it. The CH2  unit attached to pyridine is active toward free radical bromination reaction by using NBS as brominating reagent. It can produce a bromo derivative that, in turn,  can yield the desired product, after extrusion of HBr. The NH unit of dihydropyrrole portion can interfere with the reactions mentioned above, so it should be protected.
