Hello everyone,

I am doing a cyclic intendation test in abaqus explicit in the moment. The vickers intender is dircret rigid, force-controlled by a sinus function with 10 cycles and a maximal load of 1 Newton. Mass scaling is established in the test specimen at the beginning of the step (Factor: 1000). Furthermore ALE is used with a frequency of 5 and 3 remeshing sweeps per increment. displacement information is generatet by history output under the tip of the indenter requested in a single node every 0.003 sec. Material behavior was defined as displayed in the picture. In addition a constant friction coefficient of 0.35 was defined in surface-to-surface contact. mesh size is choosen as 0.4 micrometers in the test specimen.

As a result I optained a displacement-time curve, which can be seen below. The material's behavior is quite satisfying in general, but the run of the curve contains some spikes generating problems in the evaluation.

Does anyone have an idea, how to create a smooth curve progression ?

I already thought about additional damping, but without success.

Thanks a lot !!
