I have a sample of Oxide/Metal/Oxide sandwich of Mg and MgO. I am trying to dissolve the Mg metal and keep the MgO layer (without the risk of turning to the Hydroxide). Does anybody know any solvent?
Hello Mehdi Akbarifar, The question is interesting. The dissolution of Mg can be accomplished with acid. But in order to keep MgO it will be necessary to work with low concentrations of the acid. Naturally there is no way to be affected by MgO chats, but will be less than Mg. Success in the study Emil Yankov
