How TO determine the target of new compound?

Dear ALL;

I am currently working with a natural compound which are effective to kill cancer cell in vitro. But the mechanism is unknown. I am eagerly to find out why and how the compound works. Does anyone have any suggestion and what should I DO to dip the molecular mechanism? And how the mechanism of existing anti-tumor drug were found?
