I am going to design a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). It is supplied by a voltage source inverter. As the number of poles are to be determined, I need to know the nominal frequency of the machine. How can it be determined?
In order to make it clearer, the synchronous speed is known. According to the relation: wsync=120*f/p we can select different combinations of (f,p) to achieve the desired synchronous speed (equal to the rotor speed at steady state). Which is the best combination? How can we determine it?
