I'm trying to detect the local Nu number at different planes. My issue is that when I open the variable option in chart, I can't get the "surface Nusselt number" to show up under the variables (Nu vs z).
I tried to add the "Surface Nusselt Number", but I was not able to enter the data file quantites option (by using files>data file quantities (the box is grayed out)) (as in pic1).
I tried to export "surface Nusselt Number" from "solution Data" in the setup section, but it says that the nusselt number data is not available (as in pic2).
If anyone can help me understand why it isn't working, please let me know. I've attached the images below to help understand my situation .
1. Create new surfaces (vertex/line/rake/plane etc.) where you want to measure the quantities in Fluent as per your requirement
2. Before initialisation/starting the simulation create new report definition. Select the type of measurement you want where area-averaged or vertex average, then select the parameter you want to measure. After that select all surfaces where you want to measure the quantity.
3. If you want individual values then tick the box in front of 'per surface'.
4. If you want data file containing all the values then make sure to tick 'report file'.
5. If you want to see the plot while ongoing simulation tick 'report plot'
6. Select the frequency of timesteps at which the data to be measured. If you want unsteady variation its better to keep it at default (1).
7. At the end of simulation, a 'filename.out' file will be created in the project folder. Which you can use it to plot in post processing tools like Tecplot or even MS Excel
