I would like to estimate the cost for centrifuge using towler and sinnott method. But I dont know how to determine the dimension of the centrifuge. They require the information on the diameter of the centrifuge. How do I calculate the diameter? I can calculate the value of sigma ∑ value of the centrifuge, is there a way to convert this value into diameter?

I am David Caballero, i am Chemical Engineer with emphasis on biotech processes and the equations that i going to present you, are related to the Stokes law.
In order to estimate the centrifuge diameter, you need to know the Liquid Flow rate through the centrifuge Fc and the Sigma value, them are correlated by the following equation:
Fc=2*Vs*∑. (1st Equation)
To Calculate the Vs (sedimentation velocity) given by the following equation:
Vs=(d2)(ρp-ρL)(r)(ω2)/18μ (2nd Equation)
Here d is the diameter of the particle, ρp is the density of the particle, ρL is the density of the liquid, and μ is the viscosity of the liquid, r is the radial distance from the axis of rotation, ω is the angular velocity of rotation.
So if you have the Vs from the first equation you can calculate the r using the second one, and thus the centrifuge diameter.
