What is the difference between cellulose II and cellulose I? Cellulose II could be generated by alkaline extraction or phosphoric acid treatments of cellulose I. What is the difference of these two types of cellulose II?

An explanation for the difference of lattice types I, II, III and amorphous cellulose is offered based on the hypothesis that a rearrangement of intramolecular hydrogen bonds, tending to stabilize a different conformation of the cellulose chain, occurs upon destruction of the native cellulose I crystal lattice.
