Currently working on electrochemical reduction of N2 to NH3 and want to exercise proper control to reduce ambient NH3 and NOx in the experimental set-up.

While using 99% purity N2 and Ar gas, there are still literature sources that point out there are still trace impurities in the gas streams.

How can I detect these impurities? Would Nessler's reagent or indophenol method work (though I know this would work with NH3 but am unsure with NOx)?

Really would appreciate insight into this.
