I'm studying the behavior of piles in different soil profile . when i define pore pressure .
1- the value of pore pressure When using units ( Newton , meter , second , Kilogram ) :
the value = water density * Water Height *9.81
or
the value = water density * Water Height
2- the soil density is effective or Bulk
The value of pore pressure when using units ( Newton , meter , second , Kilogram ) :
the value = water mass density * Water Height *9.81
or
the value = water unit weight (gamma) * Water Height
2- The soil density is Bulk

I am researching about a FEM software applicable (Abaqus, Adina, Comsol) for modeling pore pressure through foundation of concrete gravity dams and through concrete specimens.
ADINA can be a good/better option than Abaqus?
Can I define the pore pressure values related to a linearly depended equation, as y=function (X,Z), for the first application (as a plane strain analysis) ? Can I do pore pressure analysis in Solid Elements (3D stress analysis )?
yes you can define pore water pressure in ADINA. First define the load as value ( gamma * height) of water from Model >>> Loading>>Apply then choose pore pressure as a load type then from define tab insert the load value. In 2-D problems , you can define pore pressure values related to linearly depended equation from Geometry>>> Spatial Function>>>Surface and the input is the ratio ( point height/total height) but take care of the u and v coordinate. It should be the the same. In 3-D analysis do it on Volume instead of Surface. @Daniela Gutstein
