I want to create my own protocol packets (not data packets) at the MAC layer, and want to know how to do this in NetSim. To start off I want to say create a beacon packet that is sent every 1 second in the MAC layer. Then I want to see it in the packet trace, event trace and the animator.

We are working on actually R & D using NetSim from http://www.tetcos.com
The documentation in http://www.tetcos.com/File_Exchange/Help/NetSim-v10-help-creating-packet-and-writing-details-to-trace-and-animator.docx explains this exactly.
Hello Shubham, I was able to work per this and have been able to add my packet. Can I see this in the animator? And also I want to debug a few things, can I see the animator and the debugger simultaneously in NetSim? This will be very helpful when writing my own protocol.

Yes you can add your own packet (or label a packet) and view the same in the packet trace. In the latest versions of NetSim there is a window by which users can see the packet trace and animator together. Using this you can see your packet fields in the trace and simultaneously view it in the animator.
