I just started work on intelligent reflecting surfaces to design metasurface structure antennas using HFSS.
At this stage, I have successfully designed and simulated a unit cell element in HFSS and analyzed its different performance parameters. However, it still remains unclear to me how to create or turn this unit cell element into an infinite periodic array of say 5x5 unit cell metasurface antenna array.
All the available YouTube videos out there on this subject matter using HFSS are simply focusing only on the design and simulation of a single unit cell element.
Anybody with a comprehensive information on how such a metasurface unit cell array could be created in HFSS should kindly assist me.
Please note that the emphasis is only on HFSS.

Kindly see the attached file "unit cell-1". I simulated the attached unit cell in hfss. However, when I wanted to turn the unit cell into a 5x5 array of unit-cells by right clicking the workspace and selecting "create array", it happened that this very option (create array) was grayed out.
Is there anything that I didn't do right?

You need to select the substrate and the elements on the Perfect E section (Ground+SRR1+SRR2) first.

Perhaps, there was something fundamentally wrong with the unit cell that I'm experimenting with. I have done exactly as you said by first selecting the substrate and the elements on the Perfect E section (Ground+SRR1+SRR2) before attempting to create the array, yet it remained grayed out. I will try other things.

After spending some time studying them, I have gained some level of understanding into the thought process that was behind their designs. I can see that you are an authority in this field. Please permit me to seek your help if I encounter any issue in the future.
