Hi everyone, I have issue with the "time slicing" in citespace, I downloaded my data from WOS database between 1995 and 2017, I tried to run it and displayed error message that read "the time slicing setting is outside the range of your data, your data range is ......." suggests range each attempt. Kindly see the attached file for your attention. Your quick-witted contribution will be highly appreciated. Thank you
When you download marked articles, choose all possible fields. Then, download the articles in plain text format. Good Luck

It's very puzzling and I still don't know why, but it really worked for me. You may also try this.
Yazhen Wu You are right. Based on CiteSpace guidline, fime names should be started with "download".

I ran into this problem yesterday. Then, I checked each step from data collection in WoS. Then, after I redwonloaded the data from WoS as "Full Record and cited References" instead of "Author, Title, Source, and Abstract", the step I took the day before, it seems that I will not see the time error again. I am not sure if my case could be of some help.
As Ning Guo pointed out, the data downloaded from WoS shall be "Full Record and cited References". And rename the data file as download.txt, or, as each time you can only export 500 entries from WoS, and the search results may be more than 500 entires, you can download multiple files, and name them as download_1-500.txt, download_501-1000.txt, etc., and put them in the same folder.
I am currently facing this issue. I have tried all the above recommendations, but still the problem persists.

Citespace only works when your data is in the right format. The data needs to be arranged in separated files as per your time splice setting. For this purpose, you first need to make separate folders as data_original, data_converted and data_unique. Now in the data_original folder you can keep the RIS file you downloaded from Scopus. Then in the citespace interface, you need to go to "Scopus". Select input directory as data original and output directory as the data converted. Click Scopus to WOS. After this, you go to the WOS tab on the interface. There you will find again input and out directory settings. This time you choose data_converted as your input folder and data_unique as your output folder. Then click remove duplicates. Now, when you want to load you main project file while doing the analysis, select data_unique folder to do the analysis. Error of time slicing will be removed. Seckin Damar
It's very likely that the problem is in your data.
If you're using Dimensions.ai to get the data, then you have to exporting the data with Export for bibliometric mapping.
Only then you're able to use CiteSpace to convert to WOS and then use it for your project.
