I have EDX analysis of a sample. it gives wt% of the elements present in the prepared oxides. can i convert this wt% to mole % to verify the proportion in which initial precursers were taken to prepare the sample.

Example:-
Calculate the molar wt of each oxide you want.
e.g. BaO
Atomic wt of Ba + atomic wt of O = Molar wt of BaO

wt% Ce=85.47, O=14.53
at. wt of Ce 140.116 + 2* at. wt. of O 15.9994= 172.1148
for Ce 85.47/172.1148=.4965
O= 14.53/172.1148= .0844
sum= .0844+.4965=.5809
mol% Ce= .4965/.5809*100=85.47
O=.0844/.5809*100=14.53
also what if we dope the sample eg. CexO2Dy(1-x). then what will be the value of mol. wt.
You can not, unless you know the molar mass of everything in the mixture.
You can, however, convert w/v % (grams per 100 mL) to molarity (moles/liter). For that, all you need is the molar mass of the solute.
By weight percent you mean that your sample contain other material as well. for finding mole percent from weight percent first convert the weight percent into weight by dividing the weight percent value by100. Then by simple equation (Mole=Weight/Molar Weight) find the moles. Then find the moles of all materials present in your sample. Then use the following formula e.g your sample is A
Mole percent(A)= Moles of A/Moles of All materials present in your sample*100

deedly here the M.wt is the basic factor should be used to convert between the Mole% and the W% whereas {(Mole*Mwt) = gram }
but the problem is about determination and analysis of all components of of sample or solution that you have
then easily you can convert between them (Mole% and w%)
simple example ?
we assume that we have only sample or solution with two components only (A and B) while A = 0.4 mole fraction /B=0.6mole fraction
while A=50,B=18
then how to convert it to W%?
Ax*50=20 Wx Bx*18= 10.8wx
wt% A= 20/(20+10.8)*100= 64.9% then wt% B= 35.1%
or wt% B= 10.8/(20+10.8)*100= 35.1%
in case of reverse conversion just divide on Mwt instead of times
