Asking for help in converting files. I have a DICOM file and I have converted it to an STL file for 3D printing but we want to add thickness to the model since DICOM files are fixed in thickness. I have already used Fusion 360 and I can't find a way to do it, also, the STL file from DICOM is quite heavy so I encountered app crashing many times already. The reason for increasing its thickness is that we want to create a shell for casting.

I suggest you to use Slicer since it is free, open source and several tools for image manipulation. in your case when you load dicom file into silcer, you can change voxel size by "Resample Scalar Volume" module and change spacing.
1. First, download a DICOM to STL converter. There are many available for free online.
2. Using the converter, import the DICOM file into the converter interface and select the STL file type.
3. Click “Export” to convert the DICOM file into an STL.
4. Download a CAD program such as FreeCAD or Autodesk Fusion 360.
5. In the CAD program, use the “Import” command to bring in the STL file. 6. Adjust the scale and position of the STL file, if desired.
7. Select the desired elements and convert them into a CAD file by using the “Export” command. Choose the file format you want to export to (STEP, IGES, DXF, etc). 8. Save the file.
STL = Surface body, you will need to use Solidworks/Fusion 360 or what you use for 3d work and convert it to a Solid body to then edit it.
Note that the level of detail you can modify in an STL file will be limited by the original mesh of the file. Some modifications, such as changing the thickness of a wall, can be made relatively easily, while others, such as changing the shape of a complex surface or adding one, may not be possible without recreating the geometry from scratch.
