If I have 10 years of mean temperature (2001-2010) and evaluate its performance against station observations and finally calculate the climatological bias correction for each month. Can I use these values for the whole period of the CRU dataset (1901-2015) to reconstruct the mean temperature time series using the CRU?

Normally we can extend the dataset for another separate time period. Here we assume that the correlation is same for another separate time period as well. But we should understand the fact that in reality this may not be correct because other factors such as climatic changes can also influence in another separate period. for example global temperatures have increased rapidly after the industrial revolution.

Yes it helpled me. You are correct. I asked if I used this methodology in a manuscript, as I found a strong linear relationship between the mean temperature and soil temperature at depths 5,10,20 and 50 cm and I want to study the interannual variability of the soil temperature for long period (e.g using CRU), but before using it, I evaluated its performance and calculate the bias correction factors
