If all elastic polymers can express shape memory, how to show the novelty?
My PU films are folding in like a spring upon breaking in universal testing machine (UTM) with load and slowly recovering to sheet shape with varying time span depending on modification. which is not happening in case of unmodified PU films. So can I tell these are SMP at RT?
If I understand correctly your described experiment, it is the relaxation of stresses that can occur at room temperature. Was the shape fixed after stretching with UTM? However, shape recovery is incomplete in the absence of additional thermal activation of the shape memory effect. In general, polyurethane - is a well-known shape memory material.
