For any given genetic disease (SCA, Huntington's), is there a way to computationally assess the probability or likelihood that future generations will contract it if someone in a family currently has it?
For example, if a hypothetical sister of mine had SCA,is there a way for me to calculate the likelihood that my children/grandchildren or her children/grandchildren will contract SCA?

Hi, for that you need to have what we call a pedigree. We will need to look at each individual in that tree (so, your grandmother, her spouse, their daughter and her spouse) in terms of them carrying or showing the disease to know that. It will also be important to know the mode of inheritance of that disease.
