Nowadays Nano hardness tests are carried on the materials through Nano indentation techniques. Which hardness test is more precise for a material Micro or Nano? For same material we are getting different values of hardness by using different hardness test. How to co-relates between them.

Difference between nano and micro hardness always exists. The reason for this is the area surveyed by the resulting imprint of the index. With nano indentation, the hardness of certain phase beads can be determined. Through micro-hardness, medium hardness of the surface can be established.

For given ceramic material, say Alumina or YAG which hardness test I should go for- Micro indentation or Nano indenatation? For calculation of hardness of these materials.
It depends on the thickness and the young's modulus of the sample you are testing. Ceramics are hard and high in young's modulus so indentation should work so long it is not stiffer than your diamond tip. If it's a film of less than a micron thick, I would recommend nanoindentation. If the material is around like a Si substrate thick, then I would recommend microindentation using a berkovich tip or Vickers hardness test.
