It depends on your niche and target group. But, Facebook is the best social media platform for marketing. Facebook offers so many ways to target potential customers. Also, you can use "re-targeting ads" or "Look-like ads" to reach the customers. But, I recommend that before you start the Facebook ads you learn about Facebook Pixel.

Go where they are...Do not expect them to come find you.
Then customize your content to your audience and the functioning of the social media platform.

The most effective way to narrow down your options is to understand your audience and the demographics of the users of each platform.

Example: in Indonesia, if people want to drink mineral water, what is remembered is Aqua, even though there are many brands of mineral water. If people are hungry, what is always remembered is KFC, not another brand. this can happen because we diligently greet (communication) with the audience. regards.
I worked in broadcasting for 40+ years. A lot depends on the audience you’re trying to reach and the nature of the product you’re trying to market.
Facebook’s greatest reach is women between 25-70. Instagram attracts 16-30 year olds.

The first question you need to answer before you start your social media marketing is who your ideal customers are.
I mean, have their personas in mind, with the outlines on who those people are and more importantly what their needs and problems are.
When you know these things, you know who to look for, and when you know that, you'll find out where they are.
And that's how you should choose the good social media for your marketing campaigns.
It's a good thing that you don't want to throw stuff against the wall and see what sticks.
What should help you in finding where your target audience is is a social media monitoring tool like Brand24 (https://brand24.com), or any other alternative, like Mention, or Brandwatch.
How are these tools going to be helpful?
They are all about tracking keywords across the web.
Once you create an account with either of those tools, you're asked to create a monitoring project that is going to collect mentions of the keywords of your choice.
What can those keywords be? It can be anything, honestly. A name of your industry, a hashtag related to your industry, or simply problems that your product or service solves, so, for instance, collecting customer feedback.
Hell! It can even be a name of your competitor, just to see where they talk about them the most. If you see there are a lot of conversations going on about your competitors on Twitter, it can be a sign that a significant part of your target audience is focused on this platform.
Keep in mind that it doesn't have to be just one social medium, and more importantly, you don't have to be present everywhere!
You see discussions you could potentially engage on Instagram and Twitter? Great! Focus your social media marketing efforts there and gradually build up from there if you need.
One thing you need to know about is that there's no social media monitoring tool that guarantees 100% coverage of your keywords. All social media have their limitations and Facebook is especially difficult to track. Also, whatever the platform, you want be able to collect data from private accounts or closed groups.
You can only collect what's publicly available to everyone.
