we conduct an experiment, always, inside a project (title or a general) framework.

So, what is your project (title or framework) ?

I will use the thin film deposited lithium metal as anode for secondary battery. So I try compare the bare lithium symmetric cell with thin film deposited lithium symmetric cell. And I want to optimize the thin film thickness by using lithium symmetric cell. But I don't know setting values on program to test the symmetric cell.

you might implement chronoamperometry[1]. Start with a constant V (-step) value(s), about +0.1V[2].

Wait until the current i(time) becomes near zero {iend =about= i(0)/100} and then calculate the mass of the film using the Faraday law (q=integral[i,time]).

What is your substrate ?

2. Set the plus electrode on the film (deposited lithium metal as anode) side in order to titrate by depletion, initially, all the film and calculate its mass using the Faraday law.

[1] In order to calculate capacity, follow the steps mentioned below;

You will get charge (Q) value data from the software. Convert Q to mAh.

Then before construction of the cell you are supposed to measure mass of the active anode or cathode materials (working electrode). Now use that weight to calculate capacity in terms of mAh/g (i.e., Q in mAh/mass of working electrode.

[2] In a similar way, you should calculate area of the active material so that to calculate mAh/cm^2. Hope I cleared your doubt!

For this symmetric cell test, I recommend to calculate areal capacity (mAh/cm2). This test is generally used for testing the dendrite behavior of Li anode. Your electrode diameter is 16mm, equal to 2 cm2. Im my opinion, at least, you need to demonstrate your cycling performance at 1mAh/cm2. Therefore, if you use current density of 1mA/cm2 (actual current will be 2 mA on your cell), charge/discharge time will be 1h. Then you will obtain 1mAh/cm2 areal capacity. The voltage limit will apply to stop the cell when short circuit occurs and/or Plating/stripping voltage increases due to increasing of impedance with cycle number (ex. 0.5V).
