I am performing simulation on Aspen Plus for esterification reaction. I want to calculate number of stages for reactive distillation column in ASPEN Plus for our requirement. After that I want to optimize the total stages and number of stages in each zone.
@Abdul Wahab. Reactive distillation combines chemical reaction and separation into a single process. The DSTWU, Distl, RadFrac, and Extract columns can all be used in the Aspen Plus model to represent your esterification model; the stage, however, cannot be calculated, so you must make an educated guess and include it in the equipment specification; alternatively, you can optimize the stage of the column using any optimization technique and validate it later in the Aspen model; or you can conduct sensitivity analysis to determine the optimum stage.
