Hello all, I want to calculate near field (E-field and H-field) from my antenna. Which options in CST do these? Also, I want to import that near-field data to create a equivalent aperture for my antenna to prove the surface equivalence theorem. How can I create equivalent aperture of the antenna in cst ? Kindly help me out. Thanks in advance
You can use field monitors to calculate and save the E and H fields from a run. Then you can use the post-processing to obtain them on the surface you want.
Malcolm White sir I used the field source option and declared the area according to my antenna aperture, now to export the near field data I can not find any option under the " 2D results" tab on the left. 1. How can I export my near-field data ? 2. What do you mean by post-processing to obtain the surface? 3. How can I create a equivalent aperture of my antenna? [in Feko I just exported the near field E and H field data from my antenna file and in a new file after importing those data already new aperture is ceated] -how to do this in cst?
If you choose the post processing tab on the top row, then template based processing, you can choose 2D and 3D Field results and export a 3D Field result in a volume or on a surface, or 2D plane.
Malcolm White sir thank you. I want to export my "field source data" which is basically near field data in CST. After exporting those data I can import them to cteate new file of "equivalent aperture" but here the problem is after my simulation in the result tab under field source tab I have E field and H field but I can't find ".fsm" format to export those data. CST manual says that I have to export near field data in .fsm format, how can I get near field (Eand H) field data in .fsm fomat sir? kindly tell me this thing.
You have to choose a field source monitor in the field monitors, then it saves a fsm file in the project folder.

FSM nearfield source
FSM nearfield sources can be recorded by the hexahedral transient solver, the tetrahedral frequency domain solver, and the integral equation solver of CST MICROWAVE STUDIO by defining a field source monitor. The resulting FSM nearfield source files can be found in the results folder of the original project. The FSM nearfield sources can be imprinted in the CST MICROWAVE STUDIO transient solver, integral equation solver, and asymptotic solver. The hexahedral TLM Solver supports the data from the hexahedral transient solver only.
Malcolm White sir I already went through the cst help manual then posted here my question, my problem is in the result window there is no .fsm frmat files of field source as mentioned in my earlier comment. How can I get that format result that was my question . anyways, thanks a lot for your reply.
You have to choose a field source monitor in the field monitors. Have you set a field source monitor?
