I am doing sunlight collection using Fresnel lens. When I measure illuminance value (say 100,000 lux) of sunlight using lux meter, how much lumens does it represents? Does the lux meter gives readings in lumens/meter square?
Yes, the luxmeter reads lumen incident on m² area. 100,000 lux are 100,000 lumen incident on an area with 1m² size perpendicular to the light rays.
Most luxmeters integrate all angles of incidence with a correct cosine correction: light rays coming under an angle add less to lux. You see this, when you tilt the luxmeter away from the light. But cosine correction, linearity of the response, spectral response vary from meter to meter. Check the datasheet for specifications. Depending on your application, you might need to take this into consideration.
