We have some TEM images of some Pd nanoparicles. We can see the lattice of these Pd nanopaticles. Does anyone know how to calculate the lattice spacing of these Pd nanoparticles? It should be around 0.22nm. I have tried ImageJ using some methods that I found by googling. However, all of them seemed not right.

Tao Ye, the simple method of using a profile plot gave me an answer of 0.19nm, which is close to what you are expecting. This was just on one set of 13 planes. I would recommend that you repeat it wherever you can see the lattice planes and average your results. After setting the scale (it is a little difficult to know exactly where to measure as the ends of the scale are thick and not at a definite points), draw a line perpendicular to the lattice planes within a domain and generate a profile. Count the planes and do the division. I have added an image of what I did on your sample.

You can use the Digital Micrograph software from gatan, and manually calibrate the image if you are yousing non-gatan camera. Offline DM software is free-to-download from gatan homesite.
I measured 0.23 nm. Better calibrated image should give you more reliable results, though.

You can also calculate the lattice spacing by fast fourier transformation.
Be careful when you have overlapping lattices (Moire fringes). Your analysis could be erroneous.
