I have a vector layer with buffers (all same size) around my sample points. I also have a land-use map of the area with 5 different classes. I have the land-use map in both rastar (Geotiff) and vector (by converting rastar using polygenize) format. I wish to calculate percentages of different land-use types in these buffers for two cases -
(1) buffers do not overlap
(2) some buffers overlap
You may use the tool Zonal Statistics from Raster analysis.
The zones are defined by your buffers, the Raster layer your rasterized land use map.
For each land-use you will get the number you will get the the sum of pixels for each buffer. Based on the buffer size, you may calculate %.
If the buffers overlap or not doesn't matter for this approach

Thank you all for your response. The videos were helpful, but I experienced some error following those method, towards the last stage when I was using intersection.
I was able to complete my desired computation using the plug-in Lecos, and I recommend the same.
