Yes, absorption coefficient is required for plotting the Tauc Plot.
The simple formula for calculating absorption coefficient is:
α = 2.303 A / t where t is the sample thickness and A is the absorbance
Experimentally, the absorption coefficient can be calculated by using this equation:
α = 1/t ln [(1-R)2 / T]
where t is the sample thickness, T and R are the transmission and reflection.
