Yes, absorption coefficient is required for plotting the Tauc Plot.
The simple formula for calculating absorption coefficient is:
α = 2.303 A / t where t is the sample thickness and A is the absorbance
Experimentally, the absorption coefficient can be calculated by using this equation:
α = 1/t ln [(1-R)2 / T]
where t is the sample thickness, T and R are the transmission and reflection.

I have also calculated the absorption coefficient for TiO2 thin films . I am sending you the another file which may be helpful to you.

Actually, I perform UV-VIS measurement of powdered samples by preparing their aqueous solution.
For these, if I use the equation as - alpha = 2.303 A / l, where 'l' is the path length, am I right?
