I don't know exactly what variables are included in your dataset. But usually foreign sales can be captured via simple calculation based on sales. Normally, Chinese firms will report their sales by region/country and sometimes by domestic/foreign. If you would like, you can send a detailed variable names to me at [email protected]. I can help you check if there is anything regarding to foreign sales.

I agree with Ms. Ma. As an accountant, I want to highlight that there is a compulsory disclosure "segmental reporting". This is amongst the first notes given in the financial statements. U find it in the notes to the financial statements. So, there is no need of taking any proxy.
