Hi There,
I am trying to polymerise Epoxysuccinic acid (ESA) to Polyepoxysuccinic Acid (PESA), using Ammonium Persulfate (APS) and Ditertbutylperoxide as free radical catalyst. I am carrying out entire process under Nitrogen atmosphere though I could end up up to 350 molecular weight, and I am targeting it to at lease 1000.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem

Thanks Shraddha, for sharing the link, I have this reference though the actual results differ from what is being claimed. I think to build higher molecular weights, water has to be removed from the reaction mixture prior subjecting it for polymerization. Following exactly the same procedure ends up in building the dimer only of ESA.

I am using ammonium persulfate and ditert-butyl-peroxide, reaction media is water so the reaction temperatures are between 80-90 Dec only. Do I need to go still higher temp.? Also the pH i maintain always between 7-8, still I cant get higher molecular weight PESA

as i am doing reactions in water, i cant achieve that temperature. Maximum we can go is 100 deg C. let me try few reactions with 100 Deg C reaction temperature. Hope it helps. How about carrying the reaction with some solvent (water soluble and high boiling) , which can increase my reaction temperature window.
