Obesity is becoming a common problem in almost all developed countries. From life style to medicated and non-medicated medicines are all available in market?
What is your best advice to curb this menace in evolution?
in addition to the individual behavior change about diet and expertise the only way to get the obesity under control and sustain it is through policy and structural changes. One of the examples of such change was New York Coty “Sugary Drinks Portion Cap” rule of 2013 banning the sale of over 16 oz sugary drinks.
Obesity is the result of today's leisure life that is being enjoyed by more than 90% of peoples around the globe. if it is not treated in its early stages then this could lead to serious diseases like Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Heart failures, and in worst cases Renal failure and various types of cancers.
Genes in the human body are developed not just in a single night......It has taken years of time and if one want to make changes in gene structure for future generations then one change in it could take whole life.
try to adopt the lifestyle as much as possible that was used by your ancestors.......This statement might be funny for most of the persons but this is the reality....
Now coming over...how to get rid of obesity? A number of theories, research articles, medicines, products etc are surrounding around you.......The theory which I found perfect is Alkaline theory. As long as you keep your body alkaline you will not gain weight also if you are obese then you will loose the weight in few months. Also alkalinity boosts immunity and saves you from all type of diseases from diabetes to cancer. In a case study, I am following the same and reduced 20KG in 4 months. Exercise is also a good option but again if you have not changed the diet plan or eating habits then there is no use of it. Diet plan suggested by most of the dietitians is alkaline one but they will not tell you about this. In my case, I have taken very irregular morning walks during the mentioned period but strictly followed the alkaline diets.
Daily morning sport exercises, healthy food, drinking sufficient fresh water, deep breathing, avoid all kinds of stresses, soft night sleep, ...etc are representing the key factors for excellent life.
Regards and hope you all very happy and healthy life.
Your share is too elaborate and must be commended. Thank you forthat. I intend to share parts of the abstract from your shared article. Lagerros YT et al though focusing more on bariatric surgery provides a greater insight to treatment modalities. Here in bold are the key points from this article.
" The fact that the ‘old’ well known, but pretty unexciting tools remain the basic armamentarium causes understandable concern and disappointment among both patients and therapists. Hence, bariatric surgery has increasingly been recognized and developed, as it offers substantial weight loss and prolonged weight control. The present review highlights the conventional tools to counter obesity, lifestyle modification, pharmacotherapy and bariatric surgery, including some of the barriers to successful weight loss: (1) unrealistic expectations of success; (2) high attrition rates; (3) cultural norms of self-acceptance in terms of weight and beliefs of fat being healthy; (4) neighborhood attributes such as a lack of well-stocked supermarkets and rather the presence of convenience stores with low-quality foods; and (5) the perception of the neighborhood as less safe and with low walkability. Prevention is the obvious key. Cost-effective societal interventions such as a tax on unhealthy food and beverages, front-of-pack traffic light nutrition labeling and prohibition of advertising of junk food and beverages to children are also discussed. "
Complete BAN on production/ preparation of any such item which may be the reason of obesity and all other related health problems ( PCOD, Diabetes, high BP etc.).
The FAST FOODS and the CHEMICAL DRINKS are the first two such type of items.
You pointed out another source of obesity, these energy drinks and fast foods are to me a major source of easy food and a source of obesity. Like you have a note on cigarettes, that they cause cancer. i think time has come that nutritionist and dietitian must be recommending such notes on these kinds of foods.
Another important point about obesity is that it can also cause cancer like smoke along with a long list of metabolic issues like diabetes, hypertension and the list goes on.
I have still following the old school that stick with moving and food. Recently I was discussing a topic of sustainable cooking. And how cooking can benefit workers, environment and customers. There is no doubt that obesity is a disease and cause end users to be handicapped . Sustainable cooking is our new message to people think what your body needs, ingredients you choose, the method of cooking, serving to people, drinking water and delicate moving after eating!
The pandemic of obesity can be dealt by promoting healthy eating habits and encouraging exercise; and by training healthcare professionals so that they can effectively support people who need to lose weight and help others avoid gaining weight.

More deaths results due to obesity than due to smoking. We therefore need to have these labels as very loud and clear if we want our next generations to remain healthy and productive
We are poorly equipped to cope with the obesogenic society we’ve created for ourselves. The biological drive to experience pleasant taste sensations can lead to unwise food choices, especially in formerly obese people who have managed to lose weight and are struggling with the temptation not to reward themselves. While it is easy to advise people that they need to change their eating habits, simply walking through a food court at the nearest mall means being overwhelmed by vivid smells that cue the brain to respond. Coming to terms with these temptations, especially in a society that encourages us to overeat is a challenge we all need to face.
Yup obesity is becoming a big problem in Society due to busy lifestyles . People don't have time to spent on their physical fitness. They just eat calories and always sitting at their workplace. But if we can maintain a better proportion of fruits and vegetables and taking fiber rich Diets by cutting down the extra carbohydrates intake that we take in our daily lives we can get back into better shapes and can lead a healthy lifestyle. One more thing if we can replace our tea intake with green tea or lemon tea it will help in increasing the Metabolism Rate of the body and you can shed lots of weight just in one or two months....but this thing is quite difficult . one should stop their cravings for tea and coffee...….
I think physical methods like swimming , walking is best method to overcome this problem and some times emotional and stress may lead to resolving of this problem, then obese must but themselves in challenge and they loss the overweight.
Consume some local fermented food in raw as a nutrition source for essential nutrients, as fermented foods has a diverse microorganisms as probiotics. Stop eating 5 hours before going to bed, ensuring an empty stomach during sleeping is the best sustainable way of losing weight. As an empty stomach triggers autophagy which is able to do the house-keeping job in each and every cell in our body. If one is practicing fasting, 18 hours should be the maximum duration. Don't fasting for a period longer than 24 hours, such fasting will result in gastric mucosa atrophy.
Obesity is a global health problem with an increasing prevalence elsewhere in the world. Obesity particularly visceral obesity is strongly linked to the metabolic syndrome and associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and its complications, specifically coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease and peripheral artery disease. From the preventive aspect , obseity can be effectively dealt with to a large extent through sustainably maintaing healthy lifestyle in terms of adherence to the intake of healthy diet and exercising regular moderate intensity physical activity such as brisk walking for at least 30 minutes a day for a minimum of 5 days a week. The dietary intake should be low in saturated and trans fat, low in simple and processed carbohydrates, and high in vegetables, fruit and dietary fiber. Therapeutically, lifestyle intervention can be effective in grades I and II obesity. Drug therapy can also be useful. Grade III obesity ( morbid obesity) may not respond fully to lifestyle intervention and drug treatment, while Bariatric "metabolic " surgery is an effective intervention in grade III obesity and in certain instances can also be usef to treat patients with grade I and Ii obesity.
Leading a balanced and disciplined life is the key to overcome the obesity problem. Proper food with moderate physical exercise is beneficial to combat obesity.
