How to Assess the Reading Habits among faculty members and Research Scholars?

I would like to assess the reading habits of faculty members and research scholars. Are there any tools available to measure reading habits? Who is an ideal faculty member/ professor? How do we know if a faculty member is adequately reading?

Is the questionnaire method still a valid / good instrument to assess the reading habits of a person?
