I have to design a lift on a 5 story building with 20 passenger (1360 kgs). Also, we need to consider the dead load of the lift as well. I got confused whether the dead load is to be applied at top slab or divide it into equal load and assign on each floor beam covered on each lift? Regarding the passenger (live) load of 1360kg which is the maximum capacity for 20 passenger lift, how and where to apply it.
Please be noted that there will be no RCC shear wall, instead brick wall with beams in each floor will be assigned.
lift load never comes directly on frame means lift. load comes only on elements which is directly taking part. lift i.e., elevator is suspended with high tensile wire rope. such rope will be attached at slab or beam and this load may act as point load on it and while designing these element u can take it in consideration. but every time you will consider different load combinations because change in height at each floor. u may know we provide shear wall at lift duct to close all around. your load combinations are important here. even you have to think on vibration loading too due to Jurk and impact.
It depends on your loading and designation building codes. But there is a quick way to apply lift loads, you need to model a slab or a beam in the roof level above the lift void. Then, according to the lift manual, apply dead and live load, multiply by the dynamic factor that you can find it in your local codes.
