I have results for the pH, Temperature, TDS, Total Solids, Salinity, Total Hardness, Ca-Hardness, Mg-Hardness, Turbidity, and EC of the water samples collected from the Ponds and borewells of my targeted area.
Please suggest to me how to analyze this data in a report format.
Can a Water Quality Index (WQI) be prepared using these parameters?
Muhammad Rumi Azhari Nur Irfani , would you be able to share, briefly, the formula you used, how the WQI was developed (if developed by you), or a source for the WQI you used (if it's a published index) ?
Sal Mangiafico I am sorry if I can't say much about it, since it was developed by someone else from my university, as it was only given to me to assess the local river quality index. Also, the context of my WQI formula is for classification according to Malaysian WQI Standard, but it should be enough to give you a picture of how the calculation is formulated.
I will send the file to you personally through a private message. Thanks.
Thanks for the file Muhammad Rumi Azhari Nur Irfani . As mentioned there, the index is specific for the water quality standards of Malaysia, for rivers, and for the specific water quality parameters measured. ... This is one of the difficulties in using WQI. That they are usually developed for specific regions and purposes, and require the input of experts to make a meaningful index.
It's possible to calculate different WQIs. For instance, Weighted arithmetic WQI can be measured by applying unequal weights and then calculating each parameter's relative weight. Please follow the reference provided and it hopefully will be clear.
