First I just established a cube with dimensions of 1×1×1 mm3 and discretized it into 125 elements. Then, the cube was implemented by periodic boundary conditions and subjected to uniaxial tension. ABAQUS explicit was used owing its good convergence. This model seems to be simple and can be analyzed effectively. However, the submitted job was aborted due to error(s), which as follows:
Error in job Job-2: The elements contained in element set ErrElemExcessDistortion-Step1 have distorted excessively.
Error in job Job-2: There are a total of 4 excessively distorted elements
Error in job Job-2: The ratio of deformation speed to wave speed exceeds 1.0000 in at least one element. This usually indicates an error with the model definition. Additional diagnostic information may be found in the message file.
I am confused and try to solve, but the situation does not improve. Could someone help with it? Thanks a lot.
Distortion issue is related to inconsistency with the unit properties used in Abaqus or due to the inappropriate mesh size you can try with different meshing and also check the minimizing distortion is turned on in the mesh module.
