Dear Marcelo, my view is that the question of analysing social problems is broader than what it looks at a first glance. To start with, it is important to define what you mean by a social problem. Having defined the term, you may also want to consider what lens(es) you would like to ‘utilise’to answer the question. For example, if you want to analyse social problems through a sociologic lens; you may have to start from the sociological view that social problems are often caused by structural or social forces. Sociological analysis is influenced by the theoretical position one takes, and there are several theoretical perspectives that sociologists employ including symbolic interactionist perspective, the functionalist perspective, and the conflict perspective. These perspectives offer different theoretical paradigms for explaining and analysing social problems. In a nutshell, what I am trying to suggest is that it will be important to understand what different disciplines and theoretical perspectives offer when it comes to understanding social problems. I hope this helps.
