I am trying to model early-age concrete temperature modelling in ABAQUS. The issue I have here is after 24 hrs, the formwork is removed and after a gap of 1 hr, insulation is added in place of the formwork. I am able to model the procedure in ABAQUS till the part where the concrete formwork is removed. However i do not know how to add insulation in ABAQUS, since it occupies the same position as the formwork (the formwork is replaced by insulation). Does anyone have an answer/suggestion for the same?

The formwork plays a very important role in the evolution of the temperature in the mass of the concrete, it plays the role of an insulator between the external environment and the interior of the concrete. After stripping, this insulation is eliminated and therefore the thermal conductivity changes it is characterized directly by the thermal conductivity of the wet concrete instead of the formwork. I would like to know what parameter to introduce in ABAQUS to represent the insulation?

Mohammed, I think you can use wood as a material for formwork and introduce the conductivity of wood, specific heat etc for characterizing that. You can deactivate that part in ABAQUS, thereby modelling the removal of formwork.
As for wet conctrete, you would have to look into a paper written by DeSchutter (University of Ghent), which discuses the conductivity change with moisture content. You can then employ a subroutin (FILM In case of Abaqus) and model the behaviour.
