Hi Jamal, 

i think, that does not matter on camera, the crucial is setting coordinate system and georeferencing this image/images in GIS. But I am not sure if I understand your question.

In photogrmmerty, there is a deference between aerial photo scale and map scale.

Photo scale = d/D, where d is the length on the photo and D is its corresponding length in the reality.

As the aerial photos are got digitized, this doesn’t mean that one can print them with any scale! The best scale one can reproduce the content of aerial photos shouldn’t exceed d/D.

The GSD is calculated from the equation below:

D=d*h/f,

where D is pixel size on the ground (GSD), d is the pixel size of the sensor or scanner, h is the flying height and f is the focal length of the camera

photo scale=d/D =f/h

my question here, is which mathematical formula by which the mapping scale and contour interval are calculated in the era of digital cameras

in the era of frame camera:

map scale = K*photo scale

Contour interval = h/2100, where is flying height.

Dear Jamal,

The rule of thumb for the required pixel size for a map scale that 0.05 up to

0.1mm pixel size in the map scale are required.

For the image with 1m pixel size  (GSD=1m) this means a map scale number of : 1m / 0.1mm = 10 000 should be possible.
