How the ionic liquid can be characterized if it has multiple cations/ anions?
For ionic liquids, multiple cations/anions are seperated and identified through ion-exchange chromotograpy.

Take a case , if two immidazolium rings (two positive charge one on each ring of imidazoluim) and single counter anion with two negative charges, how one can confirm that there are two imidazolium rings???????
Please give the structure of two immidazolium rings with its positive charges. These can be separated by tlc using different combination of polar & non-polar solvents.
No sir that is not possible as two rings are not at all different......
This is just like proving that there are 2 chlorine atoms in MgCl2..........
It is difficult to go by elemental analysis as usually ionic liquids are not 100 % pure......
Dear Basavang Thanks for hot pursuit of the matter. But as I said it is really a very task to get the results from elemental analysis. I am looking for something else that can be solid proof.
