It has been reported by several researches that several factors and human activities like increasing use of freon gas, nitrogenous fertilizers, fuel burning in supersonic jets etc. are causing ozone layer depletion which can be dangerous for all kinds of life on the earth. Thus, their use and impact should be reduced. But how this can be done? Scientific research based solution oriented answer is needed.
There is need to review the value chains of Ozone producing substances from cradle to grave. We can not stop the production because it is driven by the market demand, but we can regulate the disposal procedures in order to reduce over production/emission of Ozone depleting substances from the locomotive and industrial sector. Ram jet technologies should be enhanced to ensure complete combustion, or analysis of exhaust fumes to reduce possibilities of injecting Ozone depleting substances close to the stratosphere. One among the technologies i can suggest to the automotive engineers, is the re-circulation of exhaust fumes into the combustion chamber, and for the Agricultural Engineers, improving soil condition for the Nitrogen fixing bacteria to demobilize its compounds within the Soil matrix. Finally, regulations on human behavior and suggesting incineration technologies where exhaust fumes are trapped and treated before release into the atmosphere.@Asad Ali Khan
Since 1985, measures have been taken to protect the ozone layer. The first step was the introduction of restrictions on the release of freons. The government further approved the Vienna Convention, which was aimed at protecting the ozone layer and consisted of the following paragraphs:
-representatives of different countries have adopted a cooperation agreement on the study of processes and substances that affect the ozone layer and provoke its changes;
- systematic monitoring of the state of the ozone layer;
the development of technologies and unique substances that can help minimize the damage;
- cooperation in different areas of developing measures and their application, as well as monitoring activities that provoke the appearance of ozone holes;
transfer of technology and knowledge.
Over the past decades, protocols have been signed according to which the production of fluorocarbon should be reduced, and in some cases stopped altogether.
The most problematic was the use of ozone-safe products in the production of refrigeration equipment. During this period, there was a real "freon crisis". In addition, the development required significant financial investments, which could not but upset entrepreneurs. Fortunately, a solution was found and manufacturers began to use other substances in aerosols instead of freons (a hydrocarbon propellant such as butane or propane). Today, it is common to use installations that can use endothermic chemical reactions that absorb heat.
Also, it is possible to clean the atmosphere from the content of freons (according to physicists) with the help of a nuclear power unit, the power of which must be at least 10 GW. This design will serve as an excellent source of energy. It is known that the Sun can produce about 5-6 tons of ozone in just one second. By increasing this figure with the help of power units, it is possible to achieve a balance between destruction and production of ozone.
Many scientists consider it appropriate to create an "ozone factory" that will improve the state of the ozone layer.
In addition to this project, there are many others, including the production of ozone artificially in the stratosphere or the production of ozone in the atmosphere. The main disadvantage of all ideas and proposals is their high cost. Large financial losses push projects into the background and some of them remain unfulfilled.
