I would like to research the homeowners' motivation for collective action.How the Psychological mechanism works? Are they motivated by personal interests or the pursuit of civil society? Who knows some related measure of psychological scale, or can we do cooperative researchers?
I don't know what's the role of psychological mechanism in homeowners' collective action, but there are many studies on their motivations. First, a more accurate description of "personal interests" might be property interests, i.e. their motivation to protect their investment on homes. This is a very important motivation. Second, some might pursue civil society or even broader political ambition, as Read found in some of his studies. However, I doubt it is applicable to most homeowners except a few leaders. Third, some homeowners' motivation for collective action may simply come from a feeling of community, which could be the result of people's emotional attachment to the local community where they have been living for a long time. Fourth, their motivation for collective action may also be conditioned on whether or not the developer's behavior is efficient. Please see my paper on this topic.
