This question is to lead a discussion on the methods to find-out any linkages exist between social networks and routines such as coastal agriculture and fisheries?
Well, in my opinion, It is equally important to asses the presence of networks, whereas to find-out the usefulness, and the weight and contribution of those connections to different aspects of their livelihood. The suitable analytical methods must be in place.
In this kind of a study, clear-cut definitions and demarcation of coastal regions are needed. This is because the situation of an entire coastal region is different from the coastline. A lot of things change based on resources available.
The above indices are useful to find-out the existence o and the intensity (the magnitude) of the different social networks in a society. However, the usefulness and the impact should be assessed. This is the issue since. this part of study depends a lot on respondents perceptions and attitudes, thus, needs careful examination on the responses.
