Fly ash has been the most used mineral admixture in ECC due to its pozzolanic capability and ability to give high ductility of ECC. However, if slag is used instead of flyash, the ductility is expected to reduce while the compresive strength increase significantly.
I will like to know if ECC with high ductility can still be achieved with the use of high volume slag

Slag could considerably increased the durability performance of concrete. If you would like to focus on increasing ductility of ECC, slag is not necessarily a good SCM. In that case please limit Slag proportions around 10% and you could adjust fiber content, superplasticizer and w/c ratio to adjust your desirable ductility.
Using a high volume of slag in ECC will lead to lower workability higher water/super-plasticiser demand given the irregular particle geometry. How ever, given that typical ECC mixes have high volume of fly ash which leads to possibility of carbonation induced corrosion of steel reinforcement (unless you have a very low water/binder ratio - say less than 0.3 that leads to a very dense microstructure), some partial replacement of fly ash with slag may help counter that. Ductility target can always be achieved for a given matrix toughness if the micromechanical approach to ECC design is used properly.
