Effective communication with upstream stakeholders in dental training requires a clear, respectful, and consistent approach to ensure alignment on patient care objectives. Dental students must convey patient treatment needs, treatment plans, and potential complications concisely and professionally to supervisors, senior dental staff, and healthcare administrators (Wilson et al., 2021). According to Kline and Ramachandran (2019), clarity and openness in communication reduce misunderstandings and create an environment where stakeholders feel involved in patient care. Utilizing standardized reporting methods, such as Situation-Background-Assessment-Recommendation (SBAR), helps dental students structure their communication effectively, which in turn improves stakeholder understanding and decision-making (Ness et al., 2019).
