We have no choice but to use learning management systems in the schools and the platforms they provide for teleconferencing. In my situation we use CANVAS and Zoom is built into the system. It does close the gaps but educators must be trained and innovative to keep their students engaged and on task. They have fully grasped the online systems, not sure if we as educators have though.

We are living amidst what is potentially one of the greatest threats in our lifetime to global education, a gigantic educational crisis. As of March 28, 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic is causing more than 1.6 billion children and youth to be out of school in 161 countries. This is close to 80% of the world’s enrolled students. We were already experiencing a global leaning crisis, as many students were in school, but were not learning the fundamental skills needed for life. The World Bank’s “Learning Poverty” indicator – the % of children who cannot read and understand at age 10 – stood at 53% of children in low- and middle-income countries – before the outbreak started. This pandemic has the potential to worsen these outcomes even more if we do not act fast.

What should we be worried about in this phase of the crisis that might have an immediate impact on children and youth? (1) Losses in learning (2) Increased dropout rates (3) Children missing their most important meal of the day. Moreover, most countries have very unequal education systems, and these negative impacts will be felt disproportionately by poor children. When it rains, it pours for them.

En escuelas con niveles de educación Inicial y Primario, los padres visitan las escuelas para buscar materiales de trabajo y tareas que son asignadas para un período (8 a 15 días, como promedio); una vez sus hijos concluyen las tareas, las llevan a la escuela para su revisión. Incluyen en sus entregas los cuadernos donde los niños hacen su trabajo diario. Ese trabajo diario es guiado por internet o a través de canales de televisión y emisoras de radio.

Una de las formas es recurrir a la experticia de padres y que ellos ayuden a sus hijos en los quehaceres educativos y contribuyan al esfuerzo que realiza el docente mediante las clases remotas que realizan con los estudiantes. Se presentan varios ángulos problema COVID-19 que ha cambiado casi todo:

1. Capacitar a docentes de el uso de las herramientas informáticas, mediante reuniones online.

2. Asumir responsabilidad de dotar a sus hijos de conectividad y los medios tecnológicos mínimos necesarios.

3.Hacer que los estudiantes tomen conciencia de esta realidad que vivimos.

Los docentes deben realizar intervenciones constantes con sus estudiantes asesorando su quehacer educativo y supervisando sus tareas que deja el docente.

Pero, el Estado también debe intervenir con mayor apoyo a los estudiantes de escasos recursos económicos y familias vulnerables.

no todos los padres cuentan con internet adecuado y se está trabajando a través del wasap, sin embargo, los resultados reales lo veremos en la próxima generación, lo que también es cierto, es que muchos padres tienen educación básica por concluir o concluida, dícese de primaria o secundaria completa o incompleta, lo que no permite el apoyo del que tanto se habla, la realidad se impone y mucho de lo que se pregona sobre tecnología solo queda en palabras y en casos extremos se está haciendo mal uso de estas herramientas adaptadas a este lamentable proceso pandémico. Que se hace?, algunos nada, muchos algo y pocos se atreven a enfrentar retos reales con sus estudiantes. Esta pandemia está poniendo a prueba el rol protagónico de la docencia como tal y está sacando al aire las tristezas más grandes de la gente de pocos recursos que accedía a la educación estatal, pero que ahora ya no puede por el factor extrínseco de la pandemia, que es la pérdida del trabajo o desaparición de sus medios de vida porque todo cambió y probablemente se siga para peor.

En mi escuela además de trabajar por medio de Classroom se colocó una manta en el plantel con las direcciones de la página, el blog escolar y el WhatsApp del plantel, donde se pueden comunicar por medio de mensajes o comentarios y se les hacen llegar las actividades por medio del chat y las devuelven al correo de los profesores para su evaluación, de esta forma se busca obtener mas comunicación con los alumnos y sus papás

No doubt that pandemic has badly affected all spheres of life, such as economy and education. The losers are the children, now how to overcome the gap between education and curricula, different strategy has adopted. One is that the institutes turned curricula into smart curricula, i.e, reduced the curricula for assessment and up gradation purpose. while others continued online teaching to cover the syllabus. However, its a fact that online teaching is not so effective as like physical classrooms.
