I don't think that sonication may corrupt components because there is no high temperatures. What we fear is the thermodegradationwhen we use high heat such as soxhlet.

if you know your interest, do it right away. oxopyridine MP ^75 degree C. sonicate wont help much.

Soxhlet is better choice.

i think the solubility of oxopyridine meters rather than any other factor. if the compound is soluble in the solvent used for extraction it will extracted out even with just cold maceration. please focus on its solubility.
