Application of a suitable silvicultural system is fundamental to increased and healthy regeneration, judicious tending of forest trees, better management and sustainable utilization of forest resources. Most of the systems were aimed at meeting the needs of the forest department, sidelining the conservation practices of local people. These systems need to be redefined in line with the changing forest regimes especially in the context of climate change, human-animal conflicts, tribal displacement etc. Do share your thoughts!
