Hello all. This question comes from a little theoretical understanding looking to be able to implement it. This paper Article Learning Occupancy Grid Maps With Forward Sensor Models
details a different way to create OGM's, using forward sensor models as opposed to inverse sensor models. The paper specifies early on that this method is slightly less applicable to laser range scanners. The question is what algorithms are being used these days for 2D Occupancy Grid Mapping. Additionally, how should one go about implementing a grid map system (names of technologies/libraries/frameworks. I am aware of OpenSLAM's gmapping, but nothing else.)
