For Organizational Entrepreneurship Mindset and Entrepreneurial Orientation, what could go wrong that affect negatively affect the organization, i.e. what are the disadvantages of pursing organizational Entrepreneurship Mindset and Entrepreneurial Orientation
There is, to my mind, nothing inherently good nor inherently bad about the entrepreneurial mindset and its application. Entrepreneurial outcomes are wholly dependent on context. There are scenarios, particularly in controlled environments, especially where safety is paramount, where the last thing that is required is an entrepreneurial mindset.
I have experience of operating a franchise model, where my entrepreneurial mindset was far from welcome, and which ended in my departure from the franchise and a litigation expense. Change was not desired by the franchisor.
Creative-destruction it not necessarily a good thing. And it can certainly be both good and bad--dependent on your view point.
With my ideas, mindset and orientation come and cause individually learning and experience to trial and error for particular mission. Moreover, they are able to modify, transfer or changes to be the new dimension depend on both controllable and uncontrollable forces. The main negative force is on an entreprenure stops or makes his or her mindset died on the way of running a business. Importantly, trying to make as dynamic or living mindset and orientation to further effective respond any uncertain pressures, definately, positive impacts could be formulated in his or her business operation.
While organizational entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurial orientation can be highly beneficial for an organization, in some cases, they may have negative impacts as well. The following are some examples of these negative effects:
1. Overemphasizing innovation: One of the advantages of entrepreneurship is focusing on innovation and creating new ideas. However, if an organization overly focuses on innovation and development, it may cause the organization to deviate from its primary goals, leading to decreased organizational performance.
2. Excessive risk-taking: Entrepreneurial plans can be high-risk for the organization and may lead to significant financial losses. If the organization is overly risk-taking, it may lead to economic instability.
3. Neglecting the importance of current performance: Another advantage of an entrepreneurial mindset is the ability to make quick changes and improvements. However, if the organization overly focuses on this, it may neglect current performance, leading to a decrease in organizational performance.
4. Employee interaction issues: An entrepreneurial organization may be focused on rapid changes and improvements, but this can lead to problems in employee interaction. Employees may feel they are facing unstable changes, which can lower their participation and interaction with the organization.
5. Deviation from the organization's mission: One of the risks of entrepreneurship is deviating from the organization's mission and primary goal. If the organization overly focuses on this, it may lead to a deviation from its primary goal and focus on entrepreneurship in areas that do not align with the organization's primary goal.
In conclusion, to prevent the negative impacts of an organizational entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurial orientation, the organization must have the ability to manage risk, effectively communicate with employees, and balance between innovation and primary goals.
